Commentary
The transcription of this document in Dokumente, 275 is incomplete, omitting the text from “wo das Chor” onwards and the reference to the Mozart concerto. “Herr Himmel” is not Mozart’s student Johann Nepomuk Hummel, but the pianist and composer Friedrich Heinrich Himmel (1765–1814). The identity of the concerto that Himmel performed remains unknown. The Magazin der Sächsischen Geschichte is attributed to Hasche in the Neuer Nekrolog der Deutschen for 1827 (5. Jg, 2. Teil, 726).
